Voice and Data Convergence
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
VoIP technology has been in existence for several years and in some instances (but not all) it can deliver significant cost and technological benefits.StartWrite will help you assess whether or not the time is right to introduce VoIP into your company and, if so, we can help you introduce it. We can make recommendations on specific technical questions that you will have to address such as;
- Whether to go to layer 2 or be satisfied with public routing?
- Is constant-bit-rate DataStream really necessary?
- Is the LLU footprint sufficient for my needs?
- Can QOS or COS really be delivered over the internet?
- Is there a guaranteed SLA with MOS testing specified?
In cases where VoIP is appropriate;
- Costs are reduced. For example leased line pricing is usually halved, or internet capacity can be doubled
- Flexibility is increased. For example even if you move area your number can move with you. UK direct dial numbers can be delivered anywhere in the world.
- Typically only one supplier is needed. Voice and internet services are frequently delivered over the same DSL lines as the data leased lines, ISP domain services and e-mail hosting
StartWrite will review your business drivers and the potential costs and benefits of VoIP to give you honest and impartial advice about whether or not to proceed.
